DON'T let it snow!!

Wow, what a year. It has gone by so fast, I can't even believe that 2008 is almost over, especially since today is the first snowfall I have seen since last spring. I hate the snow. It is just so... cold. I only like it if I don't have to go out in it. But seeing that I am in college, and have to walk around campus, I HATE the snow!! Looking outside right now just makes me dread tomorrow, I don't want to walk around campus in this mess. Ahhh!! I really hope it stops. Not to mention, I have to drive back to Fort Collins today. This is so stupid. Snow = stupid, really stupid. Well, wish me luck. I'll write more later!

Thanksgiving - A Time For Thanks

Well, it's that time of year again, the best time of all.  Thanksgiving!!  Which means Christmas is just around the corner!!  In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I would like to take some time to reflect on the things that I am most thankful for in my life.  The following are those things listed, in no particular order.

1. Family - I am so grateful for everyone in my family.  From my parents to my sisters, to my brothers, to my niece to my brother-in-law, they are all great.  Love you all.

2. Friends - I have made so many new friends this year and I am so happy I met them.  And while I love all them, I still have my old friends that I am also grateful for.

3. Food - I love food.  Enough said.

4. Clothes - I am grateful that I have clothes to wear, but also that there are clothes to buy.

5. Education - Without education I would have nothing.  My dad is successful because of his education and his education has made it possible for me to get my own education.  Woo, education!!

6. Entertainment - I love movies, music, computers etc.  Just think without some of these things, life would be so boring.  For instance, if we didn't have computers, no one would get to enjoy this incredibly interesting blog.

Well there are many more things that I am grateful for but this is way more boring than I meant for it to be.  Ok, I'll be back soon!!

All I want for Christmas...

I love Christmas so much!! It is the best time of year. You get to be with your family and you get presents and there are beautiful lights and egg nog and honey baked ham and all sorts of other deliciousness. Every year, for the past few years, I've known almost everything that everyone is my family was getting for Christmas. I help my mom pick out a lot of things or I just bug her until she tells me. Two years ago I think I knew more of what everyone was getting for Christmas than my mom did. I felt so cool knowing more than everyone but this year I think I want a little change. I know I'm gonna regret saying this but I don't want to know what I am getting for Christmas. I want it to be a surprise, like when I was little. So to help out my mom, I found a few things that I would like.

These can be found on the Forever 21 website:

I love turtle necks. I feel like they are a good look for me. This one is the "Tabitha Sweater Top".

I love love love this skirt as well. It's so sophisticated. It is the "Marlie Grainy Plaid Skirt".

This is so Lauren Conrad so, of course, I have to get it. "Drawstring Waist Open Cardigan".

I love this tunic. It looks so comfy. It's known as the "Courtney Sweater Tunic".

Now, I really need this jumper. Just look how cute it is. It's the "Bethany Pocket Tunic".

I love this skirt. It it the perfect winter skirt for church. The "Belted Tweed Skirt".
These are so hott, they are the "Andrea Mary Janes"

These next few things can be found on the Wet Seal website:

I have wanted one of these vests for a while and I really like this one. It's the "Plaid Tie Back Vest."
These shoes are so fun and I would enjoy having them, though they are not my first choice. They are the "Peep Toe Animal Heels".

Now I HAVE to have these shoes. I don't even care what color, I just freakin' love them. They are the "Lace Up Tie Booties"

This the "Basket Knit Tunic Sweater". The gray one is preferred.
I have already threatened Heather that she better get me these boots.

But mom, I would seriously love this jacket so much! It's called "Buffalo Sweater Jacket".

This sweater is cute. Heather likes it too, and I trust her opinion. It's the "Cover Button Sweater".

And last but certainly not least, I really would enjoy a new cell phone. My phone is breaking by the minute and I don't think it has much of a life yet. Before I share which phone I would like I would like to write a little plea to my father.

Dad,
Please please please don't switch to AT&T. I love Verizon and I just don't know how much longer I can have this phone that I currently have. I think it would be in our best interest to not switch. I don't know though. It is, obviously, your choice. Just concider not doing that.
Thanks,
Melanie

Here are two phone options:

The first is the LG Venus (preferably in pink). Look how gorgeous this phone is. It is a touch screen phone and a slider, in one! I heart it. I need it.

The next phone is the LG Voyager. It is a really cool phone. It has the touch screen but it also flips open for faster, easier typing. I would probably prefer this phone but I like either one.

Well, this is just about it. If I come up with any other really great ideas, I will let you know. Merry Christmas shopping season to everyone!!

High on a Hill

So I was actually inspired by my roommate, Heather, to write this blog. Her most recent post is a list of her top movies from 2008 and I am going to take it up a notch a write about my favorite musicals ever. I have always loved listening to musicals but in the last week I have really been taking it to the extremes. I always have a song stuck in my head, it is kind of getting out of hand. Anyway, here is a list of my favorite musicals and why:

1. Number has been and always will be The Sound of Music. When I was little I would watch this movie with my grandma all the time and it always reminds me of her. Plus, I love all Maria's dresses in the movie, even if the vonTrapp children think they're ugly. And who can resist the song, "Lonely Goatherd"? Only a crazy person wouldn't like this musical.

2. Definitely The Wizard of Oz. I love this movie so much. The songs are amazing and so is the story. It is another movie that I watched a lot as a child and though I often had nightmares about the wicked witch of the west, it is truly one of my favorites.

3. Mary Poppins is next. This movie is amazing for the most parts, but there are a few scenes that I could go without seeing. Mostly I just hate when the children go to the bank with their father and the old man gets all mad and sings his stupid song. Other than that, this movie is highly recommended.

4. Though there are many parts of this movie that I do not remember, I still love Fiddler on the Roof. We used to rent it quite often when I was little. My sisters and I would act out as much as we knew. Since there were three girls in the movie and three of us, it worked out perfect. Too bad I always had to be the ugly red head, not that any of them were that attractive.

5. When I was younger my sister would babysit this little kid, Charlie, who introduced me to my fifth love, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. This movie doesn't really have any memorable songs but it is definitely a funny one.

6. At my high school, we were well known for putting on a good musical every year. One of my favorite musicals that I ever saw there was Seussical the Musical. It is a story based on the story Horton Hears a Who with some additional characters added. My favorite song would have to be "Notice Me Horton."

7. Another musical my school did was Ragtime. I hated this musical when I first saw it but now I love the music. It is a sad story about people in the 1920's but it's a good one.

8. I haven't actually ever watched the whole movie but I would have to say Rent would be my next choice. I love the music, though I have a hard time liking the story. I don't care about them not being able to pay their rent because of their STDs, that is just nasty. I do however, love the song that the lesbians sing. I can't help but like it, not because I am a lesbian (I AM NOT A LESBIAN) but because it is so fun to sing.

9. When I was in high school I really liked Annie. Now that I'm older I just find it to be ok. The songs are fun to sing and it has a good story but it definitely isn't my favorite.

10. My new favorite songs are from Wicked. I love singing them, though I have never actually seen it. I love the song "Popular" and the song "I'm Not That Girl".

Well that is the list. Not ever musical that I love is on here but close to.

Get a room.

Well this will be really quick but I just have to get this out there. So I am currently in the library, where I just finished some homework. I decided, since I was done with my homework, that I would spend the extra half hour I have before class to Facebook stalk on the computers. Here, at CSU, we have an area in our library that is a big computer lab type thing. Anyone can come and use the computers as they please.

You always see such interesting people here, no matter what part of the lab you sit in. The lady next to me is clearly a spanish professor and only looks at websites in spanish. The girl two computers down types really fast and loud. The lady sitting behind me doesn't realize that this is a study area, requiring you to keep your mouth shut. Instead, she sits on the phone telling her friend what jacket she wants to buy.

But this post isn't about them. This post is about the couple on the other side of the table as me that are making out. At first I thought, "man this is really awkward, this man and woman are just going at it in the library and I am practically forced to watch." Then they came up for air and I realized that this was no man and woman... this is a woman and a woman. Really? It was bad enough before but now there is lesbian porn in the, what is supposed to be, quiet study area where I would just like to stalk in complete silence.

The spanish professor finally had enough and got up and said, "get a room, preferably at your house, in private."

Anyway, I have to go print out my homework and get to class. I just thought I would instill into your minds the disgusting visual that I will have to carry with me all day. Have a good one!

Well, it's been a while.

It's been a while since I have written a blog. I decided that I would write a little about some new interests in my life. In the past I have been known to love The Hills, Breast Cancer Awareness, black people, staring at myself in the mirror and Dr Pepper. Now that I have grown up I have way more mature interests.

The first is fashion. I love fashion. I don't just love shopping and wearing cute things. I like looking at pictures from fashion shows and seeing what designers are designing these days. My major is Apparel and Merchandising, so this would make sense but I appreciate even more that I have started really studying it.

I also love hair and make-up. This goes along with fashion but it still has it's own special category in my heart. I love doing other people's hair and make up. I always ask my roommates if I can do their hair for them because they have such long hair which I am not currently blessed with on my own head. My roommate Katie has magical hair that is long and does whatever you tell it to do. I can't help but envy it. Heather's hair is so thick and healthy that I just want to punch her in the face because I wish my hair could be as soft as that. And doing their make up is fun too. They are both open to whatever and don't mind if I make them look like clowns or prostitutes. haha Ok, so that isn't true, they do mind that, but they are still open for experimenting with their make up.

I also love my niece. She is my favorite little person in the world. She makes me smile and so happy. She has the chubbiest cheeks that kill me every time I see her. She is just a chunk of love that I love. I got to nanny her all summer and it was so fun but she has grown up a lot in the past few months, making her even more fun. Just look at her, don't you just want to give that fat face a big ol' kiss.

I also really like taking naps on the couch. It is so relaxing and can't help but love it. Going to school all day makes me tired and so when I get home I have to take a nap. We have the most comfortable couch in my apartment and I can take some amazing naps on that sucker. It makes my day every time I get a nice nap on there.

I also love One Tree Hill. I never liked it when I was younger. I thought it was dumb. Now I love it. It is my favorite show, even more than The Hills. I know, right? More than The Hills!! You can't believe it but you should. All the drama from Q dying to Nanny Carrie being a psycho to Dan Scott being a killer to Nathan playing Slamball to Lucas marrying Peyton (which I think is a huge mistake) to Brooke becoming a foster mom to Haley becoming a mom to her own son Jamie. This show is the best and I love it. So much drama is so little time. It is unrealistic but great.

There are many other things that I love but I don't want to write any longer.
